Generation C: Texting in Church
When I speak at local church worship gatherings, I often start of by saying, "I need you to take out your cell phones and electronic devices. Please make sure that they are turned..... on!" I encourage the church to check-in on their favorite social networks, text and tweet while I am talking.
In the old days we took notes with pen and paper. I used to stick the notes in the back of my Bible only to throw them away a few months later. No one else got to read them, not even me. Now, I like to send out tweets when I hear incredible Bible stuff during worship gatherings. So, I encourage others to do the same when I am one speaking.
Posting to social networks while involved in corporate worship comes naturally to a lot of people. And why not? We encourage Christ followers to spread the good news. So let's talk about the awesome song we just sang or the incredible Bible truth the pastor just explained. Let's get it out to our friends and to the world. By the way, if you follow Christ, you are always in church. So, whenever you text... What are your thoughts?
